Pick a theme — birthday, wedding, Christmas, Thanksgiving, or any other occasion on the list — and that scene is painted in as the background, in a warm mid-century magazine-illustration style.

These themes match the card occasions below. Faces and hair stay true to the original, and clothes stay as they are unless you ask for a change. The background becomes a classic illustrated setting. Use Surprise me to pick one at random.
Upload a photo of people
A selfie or a picture of friends and family works best. Pick a theme, then press Illustrate (it sits beside Apply edit just below). The people stay as they are in your photo, and a new painted background is created behind them. The first illustration usually takes about 20 seconds.

Change the background or clothes
Keep working on the same picture as many times as you like. Name the object you want changed — a stocking, a wreath, the sky, a mailbox — and apply another edit. You can also change clothes — try “put a Santa hat and a Santa suit on him” or “put him in a red Christmas sweater.” Faces and hair always stay as they are, and only the clothes and background objects you name are updated.
Each edit redraws this same picture and is saved as a version, so you can try another change or go back. The first change usually takes about 20 seconds.
